1. This is the first time two of the leading international flagship events from the International Institute of Administrative Sciences and the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration (NCPA) at the Nanyang Technological University are held together on a single platform.
2. This conference brings together academics, practitioners and thought leaders from different parts of the world to discuss what constitute good governance in today's global context following the principles of effectiveness, accountability and inclusivity.
3. This year's theme on "Effective, Accountable and Inclusive Governance" reflects the emerging consensus at United Nations level as to what the concept of good governance means in the Agenda 2030 context.
4. The IIAS-Lien 2019 Conference is jointly organised by the International Institute of Administrative Sciences and the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
5. While baseline public administration constitutes a stand-alone development end in the 16th SDG, good governance is also an essential enabler, explicitly or not, of all other SDGs.
